Most of the pet parents I meet consider their dogs to be family. I do, too! I love taking Gino around town with me. Luckily, there are many dog-friendly restaurants and shops in Milwaukee that welcome pups with open arms.
Here is your guide to pet-friendly places to bring your dog in Milwaukee.
While all of these places are open as of November 2020 (unless otherwise noted), I recommend checking their websites and/or contacting them before you go, given the COVID-19 pandemic.

What’s better than bellying up to the bar with your pup? Many Milwaukee-area bars welcome dogs inside and let owners sip a cold brew alongside their furry pals.
When it comes to choosing places to take your dog, make sure you know how comfortable he or she is around strangers and, potentially, crowds. If they’re outgoing and love new people, they’ll be sure to have a great time in the bar with you!
There’s nothing like summer in Milwaukee. A perfect afternoon for local dogs and their humans might include popping by the patio at one of these dog-friendly restaurants or bars to soak up some time outside.
Pro tip: Make sure your dog is leashed while you spend time together on a patio. Your fellow diners will appreciate it!
Early morning walks are even more enjoyable when you can swing into a coffee shop with your dog! These shops allow you to bring your dog inside when you stop for a coffee fix.
There are a few Milwaukee hotels that don’t just let you bring your dog along for your stay with them. They also welcome your dog into their lobbies to keep you company while you relax with a drink!
With unique shops on every corner, Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward is one of the best places to bring your dog for a shopping stroll. Take your pup and stop into one of these dog-friendly stores with them!
Many home improvement stores allow dogs to explore the aisles with their owners. However, some national chains leave the rules to the discretion of individual stores’ management. So, while these stores are known to allow your dogs inside, it’s best to check with your local store before heading in!
Some of my favorite stores to roam are even more fun to visit because I can bring Gino with me! The retailers and shopping centers below welcome pups to shop along with their humans.

I had no idea some of these places allowed dogs! Hoping next year we can enjoy taking our pup to some of these spots. I already can’t contain myself at Home Goods so can’t imagine what would all land in my cart if Lexi was with! 😉
Great list and we (husband & dogs) love supporting local!
This is just what I’ve been looking for! So nice to have all this info in one place instead of having to google it. Can’t wait to check some spots out!
This is such a great and useful list. Thanks so much for making it! Can’t wait for when we can go wherever we want again.

Thank you for this list! Enlightened is currently closed for indoor consumption and is curbside only. Prior to this, they weren’t allowing dogs inside because of the pandemic 🙁
I appreciate this blog. I’m definitely going to try taking my dog to a couple hardware stores when the weather’s too bad to walk outside. 🙂
Thank you for this list!! Definitely saving it for the future. Also, the Hi-Fi Cafe on KK in Bay View is also dog friendly!!

This is so helpful! Can’t wait to include the dog in some date nights at various bars/breweries.
WXYZ Bar in the Aloft Hotel Downtown also allows dogs (and a dog friendly hotel)! Through the Arf! program there are treats and more. We love going since it is a chill bar with a river patio.
Such a service to share with us!
You say you can take your dog in menards I read that they have changed that because of COVID and what they were saying about animals maybe being able to give it to you so you are going to want to change that on your list you can take your dog in fleet and farm and ace that I know
I work for a liquor distributor and have never seen a dog in total wine brookfield. I’m pretty sure they have a sign saying service dogs only. I have seen dogs in Discount liquor in Waukesha, but don’t know their policy.
Also, if it’s not on the list: Joann fabrics and Lowes.
Besides that, this site is amazing and a life saver. My high maintenance, separation anxiety pup thanks you!
